Why The Fund Was Formed
Under The Chester County Community Foundation’s auspices, the Stephen Tuttle Fund for Oncology Research & Education was formed in 2019 so that a search for the cure will continue to be affected by Steve’s passion for science, education and mentoring. The fund is allocated for educational and research opportunities for the next generation of scientists specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
To date, the fund supports the SUPERS program at the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine (University of Pennsylvania) and the American Cancer Society’s Diversity in Cancer Research Internship Program held at over 15 universities across the country.
Over the first 3 years of the Stephen Tuttle Fund, we have raised over $300,000 towards our $500,000 goal. With your help, we hope to achieve and surpass our goal in the next 2 years!
What is SUPERS?
SUPERS@PENN is an international 10 week summer research program hosted by the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. The primary goal is to provide an individualized science-based learning curriculum. Students are paired with faculty mentors from the Departments of Radiation Oncology, Radiology, or who are members of the Radiobiology and Imaging Program of the Abrahamson Cancer Center.
SUPERS PROGRAM STATS
Undergrad students entering SUPERS come from universities all over the world, and are majoring in Physics, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biology, Bioengineering, Neuroscience, etc. Students who have completed the program have excelled in advancing their educational goals.
